East Herkimer Fire Dept.

The East Herkimer Fire Department will be hosting a Community Open House on October 19th, from Noon until 4 PM at the fire station. Firefighters and Ladies Auxiliary Members will be on hand to provide tours, answer questions, and offer demonstrations. The Herkimer County Smoke House will be available for everyone to practice their escape drills. We will also be conducting a fundraiser in conjunction with the Open House that includes a chicken barbeque, bake sale, and raffles. Please stop by!

Fire Prevention Week is October 6-12 this year and the theme is “Prevent Kitchen Fires”. The National Fire Protection Association reports that cooking is the leading cause of home fires. Two of every five home fires begin in the kitchen—more than any other place in the home. Cooking fires are also the leading cause of home fire-related injuries.
