Departments from East Herkimer, Newport, and Salisbury assisted Middleville Fire Department early Saturday morning with a flash flood that closed roads and caused the evacuation of several residences. The flooding occurred when a grate over a culvert clogged with debris on a tributary stream that runs through the Village of Middleville. Water flowed down Main Street and crossed over the West Canada Creek on the bridge to Bridge Street. East Herkimer assisted with traffic control, evacuations, and dewatering efforts.
