East Herkimer Fire Dept.

On Sunday October 16th from Noon to 3PM, the East Herkimer Fire Department will be hosting an community-wide open house and chicken barbecue. There will be various demonstrations and equipment displays for all to see. Games and activities will also be held for children of all ages. The open house is open to all and is FREE. If you would like to purchase a chicken barbecue, tickets are available from any member or at the door at the cost of $9.00 each. Hot dogs will also be available for children for 25 cents each.

On 10/10/11 at approximately 4:00 pm, the East Herkimer Fire Department along with the Mohawk Fire Department and MOVAC ambulance responded to a one vehicle roll over with the occupant trapped under the vehicle in the ditch. Fire personnel used air bags, hydraulic rescue tools, and a wrecker from Skinner Sales to disentangle the victim. The victim was transported to St. Elizabeths Medical Center in Utica with non-life threatening injuries. The extrication took approximately 35 minutes to complete.
