Herkimer Fire Department responded to a structure fire on North Main Street shortly after midnight on 5/7/2011. Upon their arrival, they found a two story duplex well involved with fire and extension into an adjacent apartment building. Mutual aid was called to the scene from Ilion, Little Falls, East Herkimer, Mohawk and Frankfort Fire Departments. Crews were on the scene for several hours extinguishing fires in both buildings.

Singer Cee Lo Green is thanking volunteer firefighters with a new song and music video.
Green has a special tie to the firefighting community which he sings about in the song – his mother was a volunteer firefighter.
Also, when he was 16 years old his mother was rescued from a near-fatal car accident by volunteer firefighters.
The recently released song, “Thank You,” is a re-recording of his Grammy Award-winning track “Forget You.”
The music video features firefighters and was put together for Duracell’s Power Those Who Protect Us battery donation program that helps firehouses with out-of-pocket power expenses.
